Don't Confuse Speed with Progress
Are you doing things right or doing the right things?
Do you ever feel like you’re juggling too many plates? As if the wheels are spinning faster and faster, but you’re not gaining momentum? Today’s post is about the importance of having a clear focus and clarity, and slowing down when needed.
You will get five ideas from me, two quotes from others and I have one question for you at the end of this article.
Ideas from me
You can’t outrun churn by trying to grow faster.
Volume ≠ Value.
Low cost ≠ Value.
Extra features ≠ Value.
Design and build with the customers needs in mind, not your own.
Going slowly in the right direction is better than going fast in the wrong direction.
Invite the customer who complained to dinner at the finest restaurant in town to discuss the matter in person (not joking). You’ll leave with a happy customer and new opportunities.
You reap what you sow. Also true when dealing with customers.
Quotes from others
“It is more important to do what is strategically right than what is immediately profitable.”
— Philip Kotler
“Rivers don’t cut through rock because they are powerful, they cut through rock because they are persistent.”
— Jim Watkins
A question for you
Are you more focused on doing things right (efficiency) or doing the right things (effectiveness)?
Do you need to make any changes to strike a better balance between process efficiency and market effectiveness?
MUSICAL CODA

Do the one thing that moves the entire flywheel more than anything else. Should be 50% of your time and resources at the beginning. I wrote about this in the "5am Boring Routines" - I'd be happy to reshare it
Ohh such a great reminder. Doing the right things is super super important and something I keep drifting with myself. I have to make consistent reminders to myself. But do you reckon there's a time specifically early in the joruney when immediate profits are important?
